What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine fili-form needles in specific points across the body to stimulate the body’s natural Qi within the meridians/channels. Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, it recognises that the root causes are what is targeted to improve health and well-being of an individual.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
We use ultra fine fili-form needles which are nothing at all like the hypodermic needles used at the doctors. You might feel a slight pinch similar to a mosquito bite but it will fade quite quickly. Many patients are surprised that it doesn't hurt at all!
What is Chinese Herbal Medicine?
Chinese Herbal Medicine has been in existence for thousands of years. It’s origins stretch back to ancient times and through its time tested existence, a comprehensive theory and understanding of how different herbs work, both individually and together with other herbs in formulas, has led to a powerful yet subtle system of medicine.
There are hundreds of Chinese herbs that are recognised for their therapeutic value, some as simple as spices one finds in their own kitchen and others coveted and rare such as ginseng and reishi mushrooms. When prescribing a formula for you, we take the time to question and examine your health and well-being to determine which combination best suits your needs.
What should I bring to a consultation?
Firstly yourself! Please bring any recent test results depending on what you are coming in for. Ensure that you are dressed comfortably, are well hydrated and have eaten in the last few hours.
